What Other Compounds Are Found In Full-Spectrum CBD Products?

Posted on: 31 March 2021

Full-spectrum CBD products are often seen as the top-of-the-line choice for therapeutic use. In addition to CBD, these products contain other compounds that are extracted from hemp along with the CBD. But what are those other compounds, and what can they do for you?

Up to 0.3% THC

In order to be legally sold in the United States, CBD products cannot contain more than 0.3% THC. This amount of THC is not enough to make you feel high. However, various cannabinoids tend to work together to enhance the effects of one another. So, these traces of THC in a full-spectrum CBD product may actually help enhance the effects of the CBD. In other words, if CBD alone relieves pain, a full-spectrum product with trace amounts of THC will alleviate pain more effectively.

Terpenes

Terpenes are aromatic compounds that give hemp its characteristic flavor and scent. If you open a bottle of full-spectrum CBD products and think "wow, that smells like hemp!" it is the terpenes you are smelling. These compounds do more than just smell. They seem to interact with various receptors throughout the body and have lots of benefits, including relaxation, relief from anxiety, and relief from depression. Terpenes can help improve the mood in general.

CBC

CBC is another cannabinoid which, like CBD, cannot make you high. It is not as potent as CBD, and most full-spectrum products only contain tiny amounts of it. However, like the traces of THC in full-spectrum products, it seems to enhance the effects of CBD. It is especially known for its anti-inflammatory properties, which means it's really good for managing conditions like arthritis, irritable bowel syndrome, and headaches.

CBN

CBN is thought to have some psychoactive properties similar to those of THC, but it is only found in very small amounts in full-spectrum gummies. There's not enough in these products to make you feel high. The other main benefit of CBN, especially in these really low doses, is sleep support. It can really help relax your mind so you can drift off to sleep and then stay asleep at night. If you take CBD gummies for sleep, definitely look for a full-spectrum product with traces of CBN.

Full-spectrum hemp products, from vape liquids to gummies, contain compounds other than CBD. The good news is that these other compounds are also therapeutic, and none of them are found in high enough concentrations to make you feel high.
