Different Cannabis Extracts And What They Can Do For Your Health

Posted on: 28 January 2020

With all of the hullabaloo over the legalization of marijuana, consumers are missing out on some of the facts about cannabis extracts. It is important to learn all you can so that you are an informed consumer when making purchases of cannabis and cannabis extracts for your medicinal uses and health. Here are some of the extracts you may or may not have heard about, and what each contributes to your health when you use it.

CBD with No THC

CBD, or cannabidiol extract, does not generally contain THC, the psychoactive substance found in marijuana. It is used to calm and to ease pain. It is also used to help you sleep. In fact, there are a number of uses and each one is safe enough that there are products for children with CBD in them. Parents find that CBD gummies or CBD oil help children with autism, anxiety, and sleep disorders. These same issues in adults also find relief with CBD products, but you will have to find the right amount that works for you.

CBD with THC

Sometimes CBD and THC are taken from the female marijuana plant, where the highest concentrations of the THC chemical are found. The two are not separated in a lab but left together as one substance. Only adults may use this product, and only in states where medical marijuana and/or recreational marijuana are legal. The psychoactive effect can help with mood disorders, while the CBD continues to lend its own benefits to the mix.

CBG

When you see CBG for sale, you might think it is a typo for CBD. In fact, CBG is an actual cannabis extract all its own. CBG is short for cannabigerol, CBG is thought to have a very positive impact on glaucoma, Huntington's disease, and even colorectal cancer. Right now, it is difficult to get a lot of this extract together because each plant only produces about one percent very early on in the plant's growth. Marijuana cultivists are looking into finding ways of making more of it naturally so that more of it can be made into life-altering medicines. You can buy it now, but usually only in very small quantities.

THC

Straight-up THC is the psychoactive element and extract taken from marijuana plants. In its purest form, it may be too strong for a lot of people. However, it has some promise as a treatment for addiction to other more harmful psychoactive drugs.
